Kids Fishing Derby 2010


The annual Kid's Fishing Derby was held on Saturday July 31st. Seventy anglers entered the event. Each entrant received a tackle box of goodies, a Stewart's ice cream cone, hot dogs and refreshments. Worms were supplied by Bobcat Sports.

The most accurate cast award was won by Brian McCoy. The largest cappie at 14 Oz was caught by William Shaughnesy. Second prize went to Owen Gillings. The largest perch was caught by Rielly Januzzi, Second place was a tie between Klye Moses and Mason Gowie. Cole Januzzi took third place. The largest rock bass was caught by Brendan Holbahm. Second prize went to Brian McCoy. Third place went to Matt Beditz. Lilly Otto, last year's Grand Champion, caught the largest sunfish. Second Prize went to Cameron Densmore. Kes Otto took third. The largest bass, and the largest fish of the tournament was a 3.1 pound largemouth bass, certified by the weigh in crew of Art and Kay Belles and caught by this years Grand Champion Victoria Buell. Victoria won a pair of Daiwa rod and reel combos, and a deluxe tackle bag donated by Cabella's Outfitters. All winners received a rod and reel combination outfit. Ice Fishing Derby 2010

On March 6 & 7, 2010 the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club held its 18th Annual Ice Fishing Derby. The weather was warm and sunny for the enjoyment of all 567 contestants and others enjoying the weekend outdoors. Door prizes were awarded hourly both days, plus the contest winners were announced Sunday afternoon. The winners were: Northern Pike. 1st place, Jeremiah Millington of Warrensburg, NY; 19.64 pounds and 43 inches. 2nd place, Brian Hall of Bolton Landing, NY; 9.04 pounds and 33 inches. 3rd place, Kevin Duntley of North Hudson, NY; 8.11 pounds and 32 inches. Lake Trout. 1st place, Mike Winters of Gansevoort, NY; 8.65 pounds and 30 inches. 2nd place, Darrell Clark of Schroon Lake, NY; 7.23 pounds and 28 3/4 inches. 3rd place, Nichole Plumstead of Schroon Lake, NY; 7.13 pounds and 28 inches. Salmon. 1st place, Jerry Smith III of Schroon Lake, NY; 2.63 pounds and 20 inches. 2nd place, Mike Flaherty of Round Top, NY; 2.32 pounds and 19 inches. 3rd place, Cody Dunlavy of Queensbury, NY; 2.10 pounds and 18 inches. Perch. David Disonell, Sr. of Hannacroix, NY; 1.50 pounds. Pickerel. Richard Wagner of Avon, CT; 4.20 pounds and 26 inches. The Ice Auger raffle was won by Marline Powers and Jim Robbins of Schroon Lake, NY. The Pack Basket and Sled raffle was won by Brad Bordeau of Moriah, NY. The Schroon Lake Class of 2012 50-50 raffle was won by Chris Meduri of Schroon Lake, NY. The Fish and Game Club 50-50 raffle was won by Brandon Stuart of Townsend, MA. The club would like to thank all the volunteers, donators, and contestants who contributed to making this a very successful and enjoyable weekend.
